Will touch your heart, make you think, and inspire you to be your best

I love all of Jon's books but this one is particularly special for several reasons. First it is a true story about an amazing young man whose example continues to influence others more than ten years after his death. If you can read this without being emotionally touched you might want to check your pulse.

Second, while there are thousands of books with strategies to be a leader there are far fewer on how to lead by being a follower and by being a servant. What so inspired me about George's story was the way he became a leader without trying to be a leader.

And third, the book is filled with lots of great ideas for being a better teammate and a better friend - and a better person.

Touching Story of Someone Who Made a Difference in Such a Short Time

Having read all of Jon Gordon's other books, picking this one up was a no brainer. Very quickly I realized that this book was very different from the others. After reading this book you can add my life to the number of people that George has touched and made better. I strongly recommend this book for anyone that wants more from life. In reading this book it has cemented the realization that to get more from life I have to be and give more. Thank you George!

Excellent reference for christian business ethics

I am a Christian CEO in Hong Kong and have written a book review on this book for the Graduate Christian Fellowship a few months back. An excellent reference. Touched on many important and controversial issues including capitalism, bribery in third world, honesty, advertisement and marketing, etc. Presented many primary articles with balanced, provocative opinions from all sides. A book for the serious thinker. NOT FOR NEW CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS NOR FOR NON-BUSINESS PERSON. Only one criticism: the editors' own comments at the end of each chapter is a bit weak; not the same calibre as the 20-30 authors.

Excellent text for a graduate level ethics class

I found this text to be well written, particularly from the standpoint of restraint, by the authors from engaging in strong persuasions as I have seen an many modern texts. But rather they allow the facts or the consequences to reveal themselves and allow the reader to reason their own conclusions. It provides an excellent source for clear thinking, in respect to very convoluted issues, and reveals the reader's deeper motives - allowing for a personal review of these motives and the ability to change ideas, yourself, based on reason. Basically this text prompts you to examine your thoughts and responses, rather than to indoctrinate.

Although this book certainly was a bargain. I would not say that it was good. There was good reflection on the biblical implications of doing business, but I felt like the cases were disappointingly unsatisfying and not academic. Just like the class that the book was required for, Beyond Integrity offers a great perspective without being academic or compelling. Also, do not buy this book on Kindle! It was too hard to use the Kindle version for the class and sometimes it seemed like the Kindle version did not have sections that my classmates had.

A Heartfelt Writing Guide for Managers

As an organization development consultant and trainer for years in various corporate and government settings, I thank goodness Lynn Gaertner-Johnston has written a book that brings heart back into the business world. So much business writing is stale, devoid of any feeling. Business professionals are people first and deserve to both write and receive messages that show respect and build relationships rather than the opposite. Lynn has done an exceptional job of showing us how to make quick, simple changes to all sorts of business writing, including delivering difficult messages. This book is rich with tons of examples. Within days of giving a copy to a manager at work, I noticed I was receiving emails that were definitely written with more thought

Excellent Guidebook for Modern Communications

I have known Lynn Gaertner-Johnston for several years professionally. Her communications have always sparkled with clarity and possessed such grace. When I heard she was writing this book, I knew it would end up in my desk library. There is no one I would trust more in steering me towards appropriate handling of sensitive situations. She does just that in her very well-written and well-organized book. Do you need pointers on how to answer an email from an angry customer or co-worker? Do you know someone who has suffered a loss and you're not quite sure what to say? Are you looking to increase your chances of being called for an interview in a job search? Wondering how to get a team member to turn in work on time without you having to nag? Need to mend fences with your boss or colleague? Lynn gives solid examples for all of these situations and so many more. She helps make communicating with others easier, more professional, with greater clarity and grace, and serves as a modern day writing etiquette teacher. Her focus throughout the book is on helping others build stronger relationships through effective communications. Deeply insightful, both in terms of relationships and technique

I received "Business Writing with Heart" as a gift from a generous retiree who I had met while on the job search last year-- and what a timely, meaningful gift it was and continues to be! When I receive a message that conveys respect, thoughtfulness, and a clear path towards working together all at once, I find myself having positive feelings towards both the author and moving forward on the task at hand. Bottom line, I'm now more equipped to write just these kinds of letters myself from having read this book. For me, it's effectiveness comes from a combination of insight into the dynamics of professional relationships along with tons of practical techniques and examples as to how I can affect those dynamics. Business Writing with Heart is a book I've continued to reference and is one I'm sure to read again in its entirely one day.

In the end, my professional networking skills improved, which led me to land an excellent job that's writing and communications intensive. I'm now I'm using the same skills day in and day out that helped me find this position. You can tell that I'm most grateful for the gift!

This is the classic work that explains in detail why numerical methods perform well or poorly. It's the best book I've ever read on Numerical Analysis. Great problems too! From Numerical Linear Algebra to PDE's the basic theory is explained beautifully. If you've ever wondered why iterating the corrector in the predictor-corrector method for solving ODE's doesn't do any good this is the book for you. As an inexpensive Dover paperback this is a real bargain!

Quantum Economics Proves Profit Motive and Social Good Are Intertwined

Adam Smith – the father of capitalism – would be very happy right now if he were able to read the intriguing and revolutionary new book by Dr. Amit Goswami, Quantum Economics: Unleashing the Power of an Economics of Consciousness. Indeed, Goswami resurrects Adam Smith and revitalizes capitalism in such a way as to pave the road to a world free from extreme economic booms and busts, the widening and debilitating gap between the superrich and poverty stricken, and a vanishing middle class that was supposed to grow under capitalism.

Make no mistake, Goswami heartily supports profit motive, but not just defined or restricted by the values of scientific materialism, or their lack thereof. Based on the principles of quantum physics and what he calls the Science of Consciousness, Goswami calls for the creation and/or expansion of subtle, vital energy products as well – those that enhance the processing of meaning (as opposed to mere information processing), feelings, intuition, and the foundational archetypes that drive fulfillment of our higher ethical and spiritual needs as well as the growth of human capital.
