About the Author
Rick Lewis has been performing professionally since the age of eight, appearing in television commercials and a dinner theater production of the musical stage play, Mame. Hooked by these early experiences in front of audiences Rick continued to work professionally as an actor, dancer, acrobat, and musical theater performer until he was in his early twenties. He then attended Webster University's renowned theater arts program. He left Webster to join the cast of a Broadway touring production of the hit musical Barnum, with which he traveled internationally for a nine-month period, playing in over 70 cities.

It was Rick's experience with Barnum that led him to build his own solo physical comedy act, incorporating his skills in theater and circus arts with his background in dance and athletics.

At the same time, a strong interest in personal growth led Rick to begin training as a personal development coach under the guidance of his own mentor. In time, he began to weave his comedic skills and growing experience as a personal growth trainer into a fully developed program that uses comedy and theater to help educate, motivate, and inspire individuals and groups to achieve greater clarity, professionalism, and satisfaction in their business and personal lives.

Rick's observations of human behavior in relationship to his experience with audiences from all industries and walks of life formed the basis of his latest book, "7 Rules You Were Born to Break," and is now the core focus of his corporate meeting presentations.

Rick has authored three books on personal growth and owns and manages Lighten Up Productions, Inc., the umbrella agency for the development and contracting of his own presentation work.

Ain't ain't misbehavin' is the way to go

Yes, there are books out there. These books are out there to help you in almost more ways than there are to be human. In your sleep and in your dreams, awake and walking about, how to live longer, better, smarter, faster, more beautiful, closer to the Gods, God or the scientifically proven absence of the Deity. There are very big books so dense and sleep-inducing that you wonder how the pharmaceutical industry ever got off the gound...and then there are those slim volumes for our thinned-down hurried and frantic world, loaded with pithy wisdom and helpfulness you just won't have time to apply to your life.
Rick Lewis's "7 Rules You Were Born to Break" does something else. It is pretty slim, 138 pages, with a photo of the author on the cover atop his 4 meter unicycle... and this is indeed the perfect image-metaphor for what he is trying to get across: You too can come up here with me, up here at four meters, delighting audiences, fearlessly amazing crowds wherever you go and whatever you do.
We are talking about the metaphor here, we each have that four meter potential with respect to ourselves, that rightful expansion, joy of completion, mountain of excellence we are afraid to even try climbing. As Rick explains it, he only got this unicycle because the young man who had had it made never mustered the nerve to get up there and make it work...which is what Rick did when he went to pick it up at the young man's house, falling flat on his face - on the lawn, we are not stupid in our risk taking - from four meters up before he got the hang of it in a single afternoon.
This book takes you through the paces, the seven rules to break, and the seven misbehaviors accompanying each one that you put into action in your life (by misbehavior Rick is talking about doing things like being determined when everyone and everything around us would have us give up, give in, and conform to conformity). Each of the Rules comes with a story he's lived through, the lesson learned then or later and the sparkling demonstration that the four meter unicycle is in each of us, folded up and dormant for the most part, requiring that glimpse of awareness and suspension of disbelief to first unfold and then wait while we place ourselves atop it - and now most importantly - reach out for the right kind of help that is going to get us up there and let us do the flying.
We live in mostly strange times. In a healthy world the misbehaviors Rick lists would be the very actions to take to achieve legitimacy, dignity, and excellence. And Rick Lewis will help you get there, on your own terms.

Street wise

This is a well written, entertaining book that is a quick read.
the author takes colorful vignettes from his own checkered career as a street entertainer, and weaves them into a series of instructional ideas.
The book underlines the power of story telling, the stories are great and the lessons are smoothly drawn. This book would be something that a whole team, or company could use as a collective tool to encourage excellence and creativity.
It is hard not to respect a man who, for decades, paid his bills by riding a 12 foot unicycle. And then parlayed those skills into a second career as a motivational speaker for Fortune 500 companies.

Hope he writes another one, there is a lot that can be learned from his unique experience

It is an engaging, funny, poignant and profound look at the rules that we unconsciously obey that trap us in mediocrity and dissatisfaction. Breaking the rules, as corporate consultant and entertainer Rick Lewis suggests we do, means challenging the status quo and all the unwritten assumptions that keep organizations and human communities from being as innovative and as brilliant as they truly, innately are. The Definitive Book for the most Critical Watch Components

This isn't a beginners book. In fact, I believe beginners books don't really work. If you're a beginner, then you need boots on the ground. Until I came under the daily apprenticeship of a master watchmaker, the beginners books I bought made little sense. The authors who wrote books for beginners assumed they were under the guidance of a knowledgeable mentor.

Now to Fried's book, I consider this an essential book for watchmakers' libraries. It covers one of the three critical areas of watch repair - hairsprings and balances. Most serious practitioners will tell you that cleaning and oiling cover the other two areas. When you take a watch for repair or service, you'll see that servicing is referred to COA - cleaning, oiling and adjustment.

If a watchmaker doesn't have proficency in hairsprings, he can't properly adjust the time. The watch make "tick", but it's half cooked.

Many problems exist in the area of hairspings and balances and Fried covers them expertly. Without this book, I cannot imagine a watchmaker or hobbyist mastering the subject.

At this point, I won't go into the subjects covered by this book. You can imagine, however, that an out-of-print book commanding a $100 price has significance to the professional.

You can find a copy for less than $100 every now and then. If so, grab it.

Another of the industry's work standards that should not have gone out of print. Provides the reader with an extraordinary amount of information on the repair and maintenance of mechanical watches. If you can gt a copy of this book and you have a keen interest in mechanical watches, buy this book.

Not the best, but not bad

Let me start by saying this is not the best book to pick if you want to learn anatomy - it is not meant to. This is, in my opinion, a companion book for Gray's or any other book, and it guides you through an authopsy not teaching you human anatomy.

It is rather good in that, but the fact that it doesn't explains things very much withdraw it a star, though I understand that if it did it would be much larger and not very practical.

I take it the other star because of its bad quality paper. I mean, how is that supposed to hold on an authopsy room, with all the water and blood? It should be printed on better paper.

This is not an essential book, but nice to know what you are doing when seeing your first authopsies. If you have the time to read it and have no other "not essential but nice" books in your list, buy it,

Get two copies of this, its a good book. One to pre-read for class, and one to keep in the anatomy lab, a "dirty" copy that you can set on the body or next to it while you are dissecting to compare it to what you actually have on the cadaver.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am not entirely sure how to rate this.
So to explain my strange need to rate this so oddly. This was not a full length novel, nor was it a novella. It was only 26 pages long. And yet I felt like it was trying to cram in this beautiful full length novel in only 26 pages. Honest to God I think that I have drooled, stars-in-my-eyes, over the moon loved this short story if it was a book. As it is now, its hard for me to love it. I can't do this like a normal review set up that I usually do.
The writing, oh my lord, what beautiful writing! It was so elegant and beautiful sculpted. Really gorgeous. But... as much as I liked it was at odds with it, because the MC is supposedly what 19 years old? She doesn't speak like one ..... or God this is hard! Because i know Petronela is not from the States but a 19 year old girl from my hometown would not sound like that so maybe I should be so judgmental on that so I won't, but she was very proper, which I didn't mind it just seemed... odd.
The plot: So much potential, I am so sad that this had to end so quickly. There was so much space for building up the book, at the very least this could have been a novella, the the very most this could have been a beast of a book. I would have been happy with a novella, i would have been in LOVE with a beast of a book. But - yup that but comes up again. It moved too fast, we jumped from scene to scene without a whole of transition and while it would have normally made me go red in the face I didn't mind it too much in this.
I did feel for the MC I really liked her, and I want to know more about her. I was very intrigued by Lord Idris. Awesome totally awesome.

She takes great pleasure in simple things like walking barefoot in the grass, or reading Jane Austen in front of a good fire, surrounded by her numerous purring cats. When the time feels right, she mysteriously withdraws in her favorite corner where she concocts fantastical stories about elves, fairies, gnomes and other wondrous creatures.

Fascinated by the Seven Worlds

Lost In The Seven Worlds
I have been an avid, and critical, fantasy reader for many years. Lost in the Seven Worlds is original, and well drawn. I wanted to know more about not only the major protagonists but the world(s) themselves and all of their inhabitants, and read this novelette in a sitting. My only criticism (other than some very minor editing issues) is that the story is incomplete in that it leaves the reader with more questions than answers. Does that leave it up to the reader to devise an finale? I hope not. I hope that this is the start of a saga and Petronela Ungureanu will complete this fantasy for us.

Not quite avante-garde, to me

First off, this is a short story. But I honestly have to say I found a lot lacking. It wasn't a well rounded story and left me with more questions than answers. To say it is 'avante-garde', well, I don't view it as such. To me, avante-garde means it is going to be different from anything else out there, colorful, full of strange new things that might take a bit of getting used to. I didn't get any of that from this story.

The overall idea was good. The setting was well written and descriptive, but the story itself fell a little flat to me. Maybe it was just me, but I felt a couple of things were repeated, and I got a bit confused and lost in the story. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't give this author another shot. This is a debut story, after all.

With it being a short story, it is worth a try. Don't just take my word for it.

Gentle dream-like fantasy!

This is a gentle fantasy which flows in a very sing-song language. The words float off the page up to you encouraging you to stretch your imagination and expand the realms of possibilities. I loved how the alien race (yes Aliens but I never truly saw them as aliens.. they came across as fairies to me because of the beauty so many of them possessed) were presented .

The characters from our protagonist to the inhabitants of the different worlds, all the races are so wonderfully written. It is a different style, not straight forward, like a walk in fairyland or ethereal worlds. It has this flow that is like water in a gentle brook; the story goes around the rocks never bumping into them and making waves, but unsettling the sand a bit if anything. At the end you land in a deeper pool and you want more.

Definitely fits your weekend read for a #weeklyshorts selection. Written in three chapters all cleverly labeled leaving me with the hope she writes this out into a series.

RECOMMENDATION - If you have ever read Tam Lin by Pamela Dean you will enjoy the style this story, the writing style reminds me of the style Pamela wrote this cult classic in.
