A must for anyone wanting too know great info. on Stalin

This book talks about everything you need too know about Joseph Stalin. It speaks about his first wife, and his caring mother-Ekaterina. It also says about the negative events that transformed Joseph Djugashvili into a cold individual who went on to eliminate many people just because he wanted to have all the power, and see no one above him in the ranks. The book also has black and white pictures of his children, his Beautiful wife Ekaterina, his Mom, and the people who helped him in his Revolutionary party-Lenin, Zinoviev,and others. I recommend this book to anyone interested in knowing about Joseph Stalin-his teen years at the Tiflis Theological school, his quest to expand Communism, and have Atheist Museums. Albert Marrin does a good job as an author-everything is real clear, and direct(the reading).

A very detailed biography!

The book Stalin, by Albert Marrin, told every part of Stalin's life. Overall, the book was full of information. Throughout the book, ranging from the bringing up of Joseph Stalin, to his turning Russia into a superpower, and eventually his death and how Russia changed afterward. For a biography this book was very good. It was interesting because of the fact that there were so many important historical World War II facts told. The beginning of the book gives detail on his origin and birth.
Stalin was born on December 21, 1879, in The Causcaus Mountains. Stalin's caring mother is brought into the story, and small detail is given about her. Once he becomes older, Marrin goes into description of how Stalin rose to power and killed many people. It was amazing to learn that this man killed so many, and yet it is overshadowed still by Hitler's similar acts. Toward the end of his life, the Russian Red Army built by Stalin invades Berlin and the German army is defeated. Barrin the author makes you want to keep learning about this man of great power and influence. After his death, the story continues telling how the superpower Stalin built had faded away. After de-Stalinization in the 1960's, the city, Stalingrad is renamed and all monuments of The Man of Steel are removed. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a very vivid historical/biography.

Russia's Man of Steel.

Marrin always does a superior job of boiling down the essentials of an aspect of history. In this book, he examines Stalin and his bloody regime in Russia. In this book, Stalin is examined as a rebel, politician, leader, father, and dictator. Marrin is right when he states that in terms of body count, Stalin was far worse than Hitler. Stalin killed and starved more of his own citizens than Hitler killed in the European theater of World War II and the Holocaust.
I think this is a wonderful little book which a young person can digest easily. The subject of the book may be inhuman, but the subject matter is readily understood. There were some typos in the book (WWII started on 9/1/39, not 9/1/40). Otherwise a solid read.

It works fine. It is a bit narrow and a little more flimsy that I expected but it is exactly what we need. I thought that it should have been packed better for shipping rather than a shoved in a flat box and taped on the ends.

The performing arts, generally viewed from the audience's perspective, are here seen from the standpoint of the performers because the power of social relations, Martin asserts, lies ultimately in performance. Finally, the body, viewed in the relevant literature as either a natural, individual essence or as subjugated to mind is established here as a social, historical agent of political activity. Two distinct, yet related, studies form the basis for Martin's contention that an alternative politics must be based on the body engaged in performance: first, an inside view of the making of a modern dance displays the sources of power for a social body; and second, a comparison of political theatre in the Soviet twenties and American sixties identifies the way in which the body's potential for politics changes. A sustained theoretical discussion that critiques semiotic and phenomenological approaches to the body and outlines a body politics links the two studies.

Performing artists concerned with the political aspects of their work; sociologists engaged in the study of problems of culture and everyday life; and literary theorists involved with the application of the tools of literary criticism to political problems will find that the perspectives expressed in this groundbreaking examination of the contemporary theory and history of the body form a compelling argument for the extent to which the body can become a source of political activity.

A Provocative and Well-Constructed Collection

Wolfe has put together an eclectic anthology on what the subtitle calls (after Derrida) "the question of the animal." Wolfe's excellent introduction and his long examination of Wittgenstein's famous dictum--"If a lion could talk, we could not understand him"--range much further than simply an analysis of language games and are worth the price of the book in themselves. I look forward to reading Animal Rites immensely. I thought Steve Baker's "Sloughing the Human" about animals and art deserved to be longer and Alphonso Lingis's "Animal Body, Inhuman Face," which I'd read in Animal Others, once more provded fascinating, weird, and very suggestive. I can't say I really "got" Judith Roof's essay on Freud's psychoanalysis of the single-celled organism, and my predisposition not to take psychoanalysis seriously as a science probably colored my response to Derrida's deconstruction of Lacan's Cartesianism in "And Say the Animal Responded?" (Wolfe explains Derrida much better than I think Derrida does!) Ursula Heise's chapter on virtual reality, dinosaurs, and Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" was thought-provoking and Charlie LeDuff's investigation inside a racially divided slaughterhouse in North Carolina once more reminded me of how politicized and gendered the killing and consumption of animals is. Covers most of the broadband technologies which is good because is difficult to find everything in just one book. However in some parts of the book needs more editing work (residential broadband). Finally, the latest edition was on 1997, I think is time to release a new edition Mr. Black

This is an excellent book on animal breeding. However, contrary to a previous review, it does not have any pictures at all! It has excellent charts and tables that illustrate points in the book. I just wanted to clarify this point.

About the Author
Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started writing about and drawing them too. Although Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike carries on his parents' love of creating Berenstain Bear stories from an area that looks a lot like Bear Country, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

My son loves this book! He is 2 1/2 years old and just discovered the Berenstein Bears. This is one of the books he wants me to read over and over. Plus it's a good lesson!

Cute Story. Great Animation.

My 20 month old son enjoys this book. Hopefully soon the message will resonate with him in real life, as he's not a huge fan of cleaning up. But you really can't go wrong with the Berenstain Bears.
