Wow!

I'm just blown away with this book! You have did it again Mrs. Vasser! Not only was this a love story but it truly was a story of healing and forgiveness. I was really in tears at times. I really wanted to hate Anthony but towards the end of the book I could see a difference in him. Maybe we will get to hear his story!

When I finished reading this all I could say was aah... HEAs make my day! I enjoy reading fiction that depicts reality in some way, shape, or form, and FAITH does just that. The subject matter portrayed is sad, at least for me. It's distressing to think you can't trust your pastor, the clergy of the church, turn to fellow congregation members for support, or to come to a fair and just decision when faced with adversity.
One of the preacher's in this story (Anthony) should not be a leader of a congregation and his actions disappointing. His character would probably fit right in with one of those reality shows with less than stellar behavior. In a nutshell Anthony's behavior can be summed up by one word: RATCHET
Title character Faith and Anthony have secretly been involved for seven years and have a child (Aaron) together. Anthony has had past rumored indiscretions and a current nightmare that causes scandal in the church prompting Faith and Aaron to leave town for a fresh start.
Aaron loves his father unconditionally and has been taught not to call Anthony dad in public or at church which he adheres to because his parentage is a "secret." The sins of the parents cause turmoil in young Aaron's life which is gut wrenching.
Now in a new city, Aaron attends the Boys & Girls club a couple days a week. There he meets and works with a mentor/minister named Terrance. The two hit it off and Terrance quickly becomes Aaron's sounding board. When Aaron gets into a fight at school, Faith reaches out to Terrance for advice on how to handle her son as this was not the first time he has chosen his fists to fix a situation. Terrance fulfills his mentor duties and also asks Faith out on a date.
The date goes extremely well until Terrance takes Faith home and learns she never wants to date a preacher. Stunned by her honesty, Terrance chooses to remain silent regarding his profession until he could not avoid it.
"You know you still haven't told me what you do for a living?"... "I...um...I...counsel people who are hurt, lost, and in need."
What's with ministers and crafty word play? I mean Faith already said her thoughts on dating a pastor and now he's using a lie by omission to get by. Come on, really!
Transformations take place by multiple characters in this book which was predictable. There's a particular scene I thought was pretty cool that took place with Anthony, Aaron, & Faith. Because most of the book you can figure out early, I was not surprise the epilogue revealed a blended family and the ultimate happy ending for Faith and Terrance- new life.
FAITH was a quick moving book. At times I felt some scenes could have been extended a bit with more detail given to passages but overall the story is good and the moral of faith and forgiveness is strong. If you like books that will pull at your heart, address common everyday sins like gossiping without feeling preachy, then this is for you. I give FAITH 3.5 devotion worthy stars upgraded to 4 for a solid story and a good moral.

(Sigh!) and another one!!! I can honestly say Miss Vasser NEVER DISAPPOINTS! This book was a true breath of fresh air. I've always loved a book filled with love, betrayal and heartache, and most of all development; the development of characters! This book is a must read!
